INTRODUCTION TO THE STANDING ON GUARD SERIES

1. The Series

What is STANDING ON GUARD?

STANDING ON GUARD is a series of six films packaged together in a 2-DVD set which filmmaker Jon Ted Wynne created to tell the story of the following Manitoba regiments and their important contribution to Canada’s culture and heritage.  The six featured regiments are:

  • The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada

  • The Royal Winnipeg Rifles

  • The Fort Garry Horse

  • 2nd Bn Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry

  • The Winnipeg Grenadiers

  • 38 Service Battalion

The discs also feature introductions by Honorary Colonels HRH Prince Philip and HRH Prince Charles. 

 

2. The Goal

To raise sufficient funds through Charitable Corporate and Individual Donations to ensure that each high school, public library and selected museums throughout Manitoba receive a copy of the STANDING ON GUARD films.   Through viewing these films students and members of the public will become aware of Manitoba’s rich military history and heritage.  The films stand as permanent documentation of each featured regiment for future generations.

3. The Target

For the purposes of this aspect of distribution, there are, in Manitoba:

375 high schools
121 public libraries
65 selected museums

for a total of 561 institutions

4. The Cost

The cost for an all-inclusive user’s licence for each institution is $100.  This is distinct from individual DVD sales which licence for home viewing only.

561 institutions x $100 –   $ 56,100
Postage and mailing –        $ 2,500

Total Cost –                            $ 58,600
